Amazon Alexa Spreads Fake History

You’ve heard of fake news. But what about fake history? And why is Amazon’s Alexa spreading fake accounts of important historical events? It turns out that it’s not part of some nefarious plan to take us down the rabbit trail of alternative universes. Whew!

Fake History is the new interactive voice game from the team at Tellables. The game is patterned after their popular kid’s game Tricky Genie. Fake History is more challenging and specifically designed for history buffs. It’s also great for anymore looking for a quick, engaging voice experience with Alexa who enjoys learning new things.

When you play Fake History, you’ll get the inside scoop on topics such as:

  • What did Mark Anthony do to turn the Romans against him?
  • Why was there a tragic accident during construction of the Golden Gate Bridge?
  • What are the glaring omissions in Marco Polo’s travel memoirs?
  • Which gifts did Commodore Matthew Perry bring to Japan in the 1800’s to convince the country to open its borders to trade?
  • What’s the real story behind the life of Montezuma’s daughter Dona Isabel?

And that’s just the beginning! Enable Fake History on any Alexa-enabled device. You’ll hear Alexa describe an historical event, place, or person. Then she’ll ask you to find the history book that finishes off the story with what really happened. You’ll have two chances to pick from three books. Your challenge is to sort through the fake history and find the book that tells the real story.

Enjoy the game! Let us know if you like it by leaving a review in the Alexa app!
